They came, they carved, and they conquered. As summertime heats up, we want to highlight how the Stewart Surfboards pro surfing team has been on fire lately. From local events to national contests coast to coast, our elite surf team riders have been stacking wins and turning heads. Whether it’s perfect turns or clutch last-minute heat performances, they’ve been showing up and proving what championship surfboards from Stewart can really do.

Tony Silvagni Stacks Up Recent Pro Surf Contest Wins

Since we’re discussing surf contest winners, there’s nobody better fitting to start off with than Tony Silvagni of our competitive surf team. Tony has been a proud member of the Stewart Surfboards family for over a decade and has racked up a long list of victories. His most recent win came at the 2025 USA Longboarding Championship Open Division in Oceanside Harbor on June 12. In the more recent King of the Pier Longboard Contest at Oceanside Pier, Tony surfed his way to an equal fifth place in the pro division and fourth in the senior men division.

Tony's performance stood out among the latest surfing news and pro surf tour results, and we caught up with him about what it takes to win at the highest level of competitive surfing.

How did it feel to take the win in the 2025 USA Longboarding Championship Open Division in Oceanside?

I feel honored to be able to conquer this title and be on the USA Surf team to compete in the ISA world surfing games in El Sunzal, El Salvador. Bill Stewart was at the event watching and throughout the last 14 years of riding for Stewart Surfboards it felt super special to have him cheering on his team riders.

What were the conditions like?

It was chest to head high and glassy conditions in the morning and in the afternoon there was a little more wind that made the conditions with a little surface bump to the face of the wave.

What was going through your head during the final heat?

During the final heat of the competition I was thinking prior to it that it only takes two set waves to perform and be patient. I wanted to shine in front of Bill Stewart and Jeff Kramer gave me some really good advice on where the best waves were coming in at.

Which Stewart model/dims were you riding, and why did you choose it?

I chose the 9’2” x 23” x 3” Stewart Bird model as I felt this board was carrying a lot of board speed and nose riding in the pocket. I felt this board in particular was making it through the flat sections of the wave.

How important is your equipment when it comes to competition?

Choosing the right equipment for the specific day is one of the key elements to having success in the competition. It’s always important to analyze the tide and choose the right board that will suit the conditions.

What’s next for you this season?

This season I am hoping I get chosen to be back on the world tour for the WSL to potentially get a seasonal wildcard spot. I would like to give another crack at becoming a world longboard champion. This accomplishment has always been one of my lifetime goals.

By winning the USA Championship, Tony has automatically qualified to represent Team U.S.A. at the upcoming International Surfing Association (ISA) World Longboarding Championship.

Noah Hogle’s Success on the West Coast

Moving down the age ladder of our pro team, we wanted to highlight a breakthrough star, Noah Hogle. Noah’s been riding for us since 2023, and the only thing that may be larger than his cutbacks is his personality out of the water. Noah’s energy and impressive wave-riding recently earned him several titles, including the Scholastic Surf Series High School State Championship, and USA Surfing’s Junior National Championship—both at his home break of Oceanside Harbor. Just a bit south from that, at Oceanside Pier, Noah placed fourth in the King of the Pier finals on August 10th, saying “The Ripster round pin tail worked the best for the beachbreak conditions”.

Noah also placed fourth in the USA Open Final, and finished fifth at the WSL Qualifying Series in Virginia Beach. To top it off, he won the Western Surfing Association season title at Huntington Beach—his fifth title in five years. Noah is proving himself among the most promising names in the latest longboarding and overall surfing news.

Here’s what Noah had to say about the USA Longboarding Championship and why his Stewart surfboard is critical to getting the best surf competition results:

What were the conditions like?

The conditions were a little bigger and a little rougher like choppy and the tide was pulling out. But it was sunny and I got to surf with Kydon, which is always fun.

What was going through your head during the final heat?

The same thing that always goes through my head, which is just get two good waves and why is my board slippery? 😁

How did your board perform out there?

My board was amazing. It held in the critical part of the waves when I went to the nose quickly and it allowed me to carry momentum through my turns back up into the pocket for some critical slashes and into the beach.

Which Stewart model/dims were you riding, and why did you choose it?

I was riding a 9’3” flaming log prototype. It's a version of the Hypnosis (a Stewart prototype that has been in testing) with less hips and some other minor tweaks. I chose it because it’s a great all around board for Southern California. But my new favorite board is a modified Ripster - it's so fun!

How important is your equipment when it comes to competition?

Extremely important. You can’t win anything if you don’t have equipment that can compete with everyone else’s and my equipment is the best compared to everyone else’s.  Therefore, I’m more confident in the water.

Noah has been dominating amateur surf competitions, but now he’s eyeing the WSL Qualifying Series, with hopes of earning a spot on the tour. With the way Noah’s been surfing lately, it’s not a question of IF that’s going to happen, just when?

Kydon Larrabee Dominates the East Coast

Last but certainly not least, we spotlight 14-year-old phenom Kydon Larrabee, who has been turning heads with huge performances across the East Coast. Starting with a finals finish in the U16 division in Florida, he quickly followed up with double finals placings in both shortboarding and longboarding. Kydon went on to win multiple divisions in Cocoa Beach, and most recently, scored two titles at the NSSA New Smyrna Beach contest—further proof that this rising surf champion is on a roll.

He also received the 2025 USA Surfing Sportsmanship Champion award, a prestigious title given by Tom Gibbons which honors athletes who represent the spirit and values of the surf community both in and out of the water.

Similarly to Tony and Noah, Kydon also had an impressive result at the King of the Pier contest, ripping his way through heats to end up winning the 14 and under division.

Featured here are some of Kydon’s insights on the USA Surfing Longboard National Championship and why working closely with your shaper results in the best competition surfboards:

How did your last contest go? What were your results?

I ended up with a runner up finish in Jr. Men's, and an equal 8th for Open Men's which is a win for me!

How were the conditions for the contest?

The conditions were pretty top notch for an amateur contest, especially sick coming from the east coast. 6-7ft with light offshore in the morning and light onshore wind in the afternoon.

What was going through your head during your final heat?

In the final heat of under 18, I was focusing on the form of my surfing, picking the right waves and not getting too nervous or anxious.

What board were you riding and how did it perform?

I’d say that my 9’3 Stewart Bird was the perfect board for the conditions that day. The high performance aspect of that shape complemented the steeper waves well.

How important is good equipment when it comes to competitions?

In competitions, the quality of your equipment and having the correct equipment for the conditions can make or break an entire performance. That's why I feel working closely with my shaper is so important.

Kydon hopes to defend his NSSA National Title in his next competition in Huntington Beach, and we’re wishing him luck and preparing new blades!
