DANIELLE BLACK LYONS
Surfer, artist, and mother Danielle Black Lyons is a driving force in the movement to promote diversity and inclusivity in surfing. As a co-founder of Textured Waves, she works to propagate the culture and sport of women’s surfing towards women of color and underrepresented demographics through representation, community and sisterly camaraderie. All that, and she's a damn good surfer.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Danielle grew up bodyboarding and spending lots of time in the water with her family. She eventually transitioned to surfing on a trip to Hawaii and was instantly hooked. These days you can find her at her home break in Oceanside, as well as traveling the world filming and getting photos for some of her favorite brands, and of course spreading the word for diversity in the lineup.
