HISTORY & ORIGIN

Larry Gephart is a San Diego–based designer whose name has become synonymous with traditional twin-fin templates. He’s often mentioned alongside shapers such as the legendary Skip Frye in discussions of surfboard heritage and fin design in Southern California surf culture. Gephart’s legacy is rooted in the region’s mid-century surfboard innovation era, specifically throughout the development of the fish, and his influence lives on through fin models that honor the shaping style and performance philosophy of that period.
